Into the Amazon, Fishing Brazil

An Overview

What a trip. One month ago today I was deep in the jungle of Northern Brazil. Surrounded by the sights and sounds of the rainforest and enough fish to offer 8 anglers the trip of a lifetime. We were there to target Peacock bass, giant Amazon catfish, toothy wolfish and whatever else the Amazon had to offer.

Our exploratory trip put us on the Mapuera River in the northern Brazilian state of Pará, South of Guyana. Our hosts and fishing guides were the indigenous Wai-Wai tribe.

Over the course of 7 days fishing, there were times the bite was on, and times it was slow. But in the end, I came away with a ton of beautiful Peacocks, a giant 150lb+ Piraiba catfish, wolfish, big bicuda, and enough fly destroying piranha to curse the toothy bastards daily. A truly awesome trip in the wild and raw Amazon. You can read each days account here.
