Amazon Day 5
Wild to think I've been in the jungle for five days now. Trip is winding down and I have a few goals I would still like to accomplish.
For whatever reason I’ve told myself I want these fish on the fly...why? I love to fish tackle.
Let’s do it. Last two days, tackle only.
Tough fishing day. In the first hour I hooked and lost 3 nice fish. Was kicking myself. After that….nothing. No hits all day other than two nice bicuda and damn piranha. The piranha comp flies like no ones business. I must have lost $200 worth of flies to piranhas.
I also snapped my second 10wt today. I had a big piranha on at the boat…..bam. Snapped at the second section. Damnit.
Nothing doing the rest of the day, until the last 30 minutes. Pete hooked a nice 7lber and I doubled up with a smaller butterfly peacock. Right after that I hooked into a nice one, and lost it. Not my day.
Got back to camp and hooked a small bicuda in the hole in front of camp.
Tomorrow, I fish conventional.
